Bob Weiss
Welcome

I’m running for the Forsyth County Board of Education because I believe our schools deserve steady, accountable leadership. I am the candidate with the strongest background in that area. I had a 26-year career in the Army. I am a West Point graduate, where the mission is to build leaders of character.  I also have 25 years leading private sector organizations as the CEO or CFO.

After I retired from the United States Army, I didn’t stop caring about service—I just shifted my focus to home. Like many families in Forsyth County, I was concerned, if not horrified, to learn that our school system faced a projected $46 million budget shortfall.  Challenges of that size hurt students, teachers, and the trust our community places in its schools.

In the Army, I learned that leadership means accountability, planning, asking tough questions, being responsible for and managing millions of dollars of  resources and making tough, timely decisions. Those principles apply equally to all of the organizations I’ve led, and to our school system.

I’m running to help strengthen oversight, improve real transparency, and ensure our schools are financially stable and focused on what matters most—student success.  Also protecting the taxpayer is paramount.  I have no plans to run for any other public office.

Our previous School Board was kept in the dark about the financial problems. I have the experience to make sure those dark days are over.
